The Pascagoula, MS native began his medical career after a brief stint in the minor leagues with the Arizona Diamondback’s professional baseball organization upon graduating from Millsaps College in 1996. After receiving his medical degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2003, he completed his Anesthesia residency and Pain Medicine fellowship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and maintains dual ABMS Board Certification in both specialties. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Southern Pain Society and is an active member of the American Academy of Pain Medicine and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. He has a DEA waiver to prescribe buprenorphine for opioid use disorder and uncomplicated opioid dependency and is near completion of Board certification in Addiction Medicine via the American Board of Preventive Medicine. He is a regionally known speaker and has been called as an expert witness to offer testimony as to the standard of care in the field of Pain Medicine. His practice at Willow Pain and Wellness utilizes a comprehensive, multimodal approach to the management of a multitude of chronic painful conditions which incorporates procedural, medical, psychotherapeutic, and rehabilitative efforts. Dr. Kinard focuses his general approach toward, achieving his treatment goals: pain relief, improved physical function, and enhanced quality of life, while minimizing the role of medications which can result in chemical dependency and addiction.
